More Than Winning
Sport at Hopeday is not about producing champions (though we do). It is about producing children who understand discipline, who know how to lose gracefully, who know how to win humbly, and who carry the lessons of teamwork into every other area of their lives.
Every Hopeday student participates in physical education. Competitive teams are open to all who are willing to train and commit. We have never turned a child away from a sports team for lack of talent — only for lack of effort.
⚽ Football
Boys' and girls' teams competing in zonal and state leagues. Our Under-14s are the current Ogun Zonal Champions (2025).
🏃 Track & Field
Annual inter-house athletics competition plus state championship participation. Every student competes on Sports Day regardless of ability.
🏸 Badminton
Recreational and competitive. One of our most popular after-school clubs.
🏀 Basketball
Court available for daily use. Competitive team trains three mornings per week.
🤸 Gymnastics & Dance
Movement, flexibility, coordination, and performance — for students who express themselves physically.
♟️ Chess
Strategic thinking disguised as a game. Our chess team competes regionally and is undefeated in the past two seasons.
Annual Sports Day
Hopeday's Sports Day is one of the most anticipated events in our school calendar. Families come from across the community to cheer on their children. Every student competes. Every student is cheered. No child sits on the sideline.
